What is great about working as an apprentice?

Getting paid to learn a completely new discipline is definitely the best part of working as an apprentice. You gain a nationally recognised qualification and the chance to develop your skills in an exciting and dynamic environment.

What is involved in the apprenticeship?

Within the automotive electrical apprenticeship you will be taught how to diagnose, repair and maintain the electrical systems in various machines. These systems encompass a wide range of components, including: wiring batteries, lighting electronic fuel injection, ignition systems, audio systems and more; as machines continue to evolve and integrate sophisticated electrical features. Our roles become increasingly technical, which concludes that tour learning journey is never over.

With regards to the training record book, with the guidance of at work mentoring, apprentices are encouraged to develop self initiative and discipline in regards to completing their practical thesis.


My standard schedule

  • 4am: Fly to site

    8:30am: Get to crib

    9am: Go to workshop

    10am: Return to work meeting to get across any key information for the week ahead

    10:15am: Handover with outgoing crew

    10:30am: Commence work

    12pm: Lunch

    12:30pm: Resume work

    2pm: Smoko

    5pm: Complete work for the day

  • 7am: Classes start

    9am: Smoko

    9:15am: Resume classes

    12pm: Lunch

    12:30pm: Resume classes (workshop based)

    3:30pm: Classes completed

  • 4am: Wake up

    4:30am: Breakfast + crib

    5am: Get on breakdown bus to go to site

    5:20am: Breakdown handover

    6am: Pre-start meeting

    6:15am: Get tools and prepare for jobs (workshop or field)

    9am: Smoko

    12pm: Lunch

    12:30pm: Resume work

    5pm: Handover

    5:30pm: Complete work for the day

  • 4am: Wake up

    4:15am: Take bag to shower block and hand in keys

    4:30am: Breakfast + crib

    5am: Leave on breakdown bus to go to site

    5:20am: Breakdown handover

    6am: Pre-start meeting

    6:15am: Get tools and prepare for jobs (workshop or field)

    9am: Smoko

    12pm: Lunch

    12:30pm: Resume work

    5pm: Handover

    5:30pm: Go to airport to head home
