Apprenticeships

With our four-year program, you'll dive into hands-on technical experience, gaining the essential skills and knowledge required to earn a trade qualification. These skills are the linchpin for the seamless and safe operation of our assets, guaranteeing that we're not just ready for the present but geared up for the future.

Upon successful completion, apprentices will acquire a nationally recognised qualification and be deemed trade qualified (where applicable) once they have fulfilled all requirements of the on and off the job components. Each program commences with a two-week Trade Induction Program to introduce apprentices to fundamental trades skills, relevant knowledge and to embed Rio Tinto’s safety culture via Pre-Task Hazard Assessment processes (PTHA’s). Allocation of apprenticeship numbers and disciplines across the business is driven by a range of inputs as shown below. Future Skills manages this process and review annually.
