What is great about working as an apprentice?
Overall, working as an apprentice provides a unique learning experience that combines in class learning (TAFE), practical training, mentorship and the opportunity for personal and professional growth.
What is involved in the apprenticeship?
Being a Heavy Duty Apprentice Fitter is a hands on physical job which involves on and off the job training throughout the year, this could be working in the workshop or outdoors in the field. On the job training you will be buddied up with a qualified HD Fitter to assist, share knowledge & explain the task ahead. Cleaning & tidy up, organising the workshop, utes, & toolboxes are every day tasks.
The training record book (TRB) is your cloud based online book making it easier to upload, review & submit your work evidence. During your on-site training it is important to document notes, take photos & upload your evidence to your book. At this stage with the TRB you can only upload 1 photo at a time. To save time and make it easier I individually upload job sheets & risk assessments & make a slideshow of the photos so this can be done in the one upload.
